BE OBEDIENT

FAITH CAPSULE: Whatever He says do without questioning Him.

John 2:1-12

It is written, “Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.” (1 Samuel 15:22)Obeying God’s word is taken step not to despise God. To disobey what the word is saying is to be setting one up for destruction. Proverbs 13:13 stated, “He who despises the word will be destroyed, but he who fears the commandment will be rewarded.” Engaging God’s command will save life. Also, it is the evidence of trusting in God and what He can do. Obeying the word of God is what marks man as being faithful. Are you constantly obeying the Word of God?
John 2:1-2 stated, “…there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.  Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding.” A wedding with Jesus as a guest of honor is set not to be harassed by shame. Have you invited Jesus into your marriage or your life? Despite the fact that Jesus was there, shame showed up at the wedding to discolor the wedding when there was no more wine to serve. At that wedding in Cana of Galilee, the mother of Jesus approached Jesus for intervention that would save the wedding celebration from shame for lack of wine. Jesus responded to His mother’s call for intervention, “…Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.” (John 2:4) Jesus’ response was not discouraging to the mother of Jesus. She rather encouraged the servants at the wedding with her response in John 2:5. “His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” What is in the word of God that is missing in your situation because of your disobedience?
If you will take an honest search within yourself, there is a step out of your situation by obeying what He has said to you in His word. John 2:7, “Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim.” The servants were obedient by doing exactly what Jesus instructed them. Can you state with confidence that you are doing all according to His word (His commands)? Jesus commanded them to fill all the empty gallons of wine while there was nothing to show for. Disciples did not question His command as they filled the waterpots to the brink. As a result of the disciple’s obedience, the wedding took a new turn. Be obedient to God’s word and Let His command rule in every area of your life.

Prayer for today: Ask for the grace to be constantly obedient to His command.

DENY FEAR

FAITH CAPSULE: Deny fear to engage faith.

Matthew 14:22-33

Anticipation of the possibility that something hostile will happen is a way of describing fear. Fear is a deadly weapon of the devil. Fear does not discriminate and it will strike regardless of man’s title or age. Fear will always take the center stage in man’s life when faith is off the stage. Knowing the devil as a deceptive one, fear often sneaks into man by the way of concern or anxiety. The Bible warned, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because he cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7) David testified, Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4) David could not run where he needed to walk because he knew his God. Those who know their God operates with understand that the word and the hand of God is failure impossibility over their life. Do you know your God to trust Him not to run where you are to walk? The word of God admonished us, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7) Are you living life in anxiousness or in the abundance of God’s word which Jesus made available for us?

Once during the late hour of the day and in the middle of the water, a storm took over the journey of life for the disciples. Jesus’ disciples were on the journey to the other side of the sea when the storm took over. While they were being tossed around by the wave, Jesus showed up to rescue them. It is written, “Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, ‘It is a ghost!’ And they cried out for fear.” (Matthew 14:25-26) By virtue of fear, Peter must have requested for deliverance when he asked Jesus to command him to walk on the water. Jesus responded to Peter’s request by commanding him to come. The Bible records, “…and when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.  But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, ‘Lord, save me!’ (Matthew 14:29-30) Peter, in his obedience to walk a difficult walk (walking on water), took his eyes away from Jesus as he gave his attention to the troubling storm and fear took charge while faith was discharged. Deny fear to engage faith.

Prayer for today: In You O Lord, I put my trust; let me not be a victim of fear.

TESTIMONIES OF GOD

FAITH CAPSULE: Today, do not be quiet testify Him and He will silent your enemy.

Psalm 119:1-64

Consider witnessing about God’s doing as way of provoking God’s hand in your favor. Witnessing about what God is doing or what He has done is not keeping quiet but speaking out the doings of God in one’s life. Witnessing the Lords doing is testifying about what the Lord is doing. Testimony is a way of not keeping quiet but speaking out loud for God to be glorified. Testimony is a way of celebrating God by speaking out loudly; it is a way of giving our jealous God His due attention. Giving God attention promotes His goodness and also provokes getting His attention. The Psalmist testified, “The wicked wait for me to destroy me, but I will consider Your testimonies.” (Psalm 119:95) The testimonies of God are the evidence of His work. Testifying about God is gaining access into the power of God that is mighty to deliver. Testifying of God is an expression that you are counting on God for greater testimonies. Above all, when one reminds God concerning the work of His hand, He will react concerning the war that confronts one.
Once, Goliath stood a ground of war against the Children of Israel and he rained all kinds of verbal insult and harassment against Israel but none of the Israelites could consider the testimonies of God that is power enough to deliver. David drew boldness and courage from testimonies of God to bring down Goliath. He testified, “The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” (1 Kings 17:37) David’s first offensive weapon of attack was remembering and reminding all agents of opposition about what God had done in his life. In the face of challenges, he who trust God enough to remember what He has done will always provoke Him for doing more on his behalf. David could not be quiet about the Lord’s doing as a result, Heaven moved on his behalf to silent his enemy. Be loud about God and be victorious.
Those who keep His testimonies are the ones that have all things work for them. Psalmist stated, “Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart.” (Psalm 119:2) It is true according to the word of God that when we seek God first, all things shall be added to us. (Matthew 6:33) Clinging to testimony of God delivers man from shame. Psalmist could not be quiet but stated, “I cling to your testimonies; O Lord, do not put me to shame! (Psalm 119:31) I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings, and I will not be ashamed.” (Psalm 119:46) As a believer, you have what it takes to be victorious. Today open your mouth wide, do not be quiet; testify Him and He will silent your enemy.

Prayer for today: Ask God for help in remembering to constantly engaging His testimonies.

RISE TO POSSES

FAITH CAPSULE: His promise does not return back to Him void except man becomes voided.

Deuteronomy 1

When it was time for the Israelites to possess the promise of God they were called to move from dwelling at mountain bottom. Mountain bottom could be a place of comfort that takes away the sight of potential breakthrough for man. The Bible recorded in Deuteronomy 1:6-7, “The Lord our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying: ‘You have dwelt long enough at this mountain.” It is possible for man to engage comfort and not continue in the journey to possess fully. Are you dwelling long enough not to continue to pursue and possess?
When God called the Israelites out of the mountain bottom, He called their attention by stating, “See, I have set the land before you; go in and possess the land…” (Deuteronomy 1:8) Possessing what is yet at hand demands faith to see in the place of nothing. God’s promises in His word are not visible in the physical until man begins to see it as true and go after it. The truth is that God’s word cannot fail deliver. Above all, His word does not return back to Him void except man becomes voided in rising and engaging what He has promised to do.
In addition to coming out of mountain bottom (comfortable dwelling position) and not being able to see, there shall be no room for fear and discouragement. Moses warned about fear and discouragement while emphasizing to the Israelites the need to see and be able to possess in Deuteronomy 1:21, “Look, the Lord your God has set the land before you; go up and possess it, as the Lord God of your fathers has spoken to you; do not fear or be discouraged.” Fear is the opposite of faith. Fear sinks faith while discouragement is what takes away the ability to see in line of what God has promised.

Can you consider where you are in the promise of God for your life? It is important to identify if you have actually engage to rising in effort to possess. Have you allowed fear and discouragement to take over the driver seat of your journey? It is important for man to know that God is forever faithful with His promise. Do not fail to fully engage and possess the promise of God.
God called Abraham “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you. So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him and Isaac his son…” (Genesis 22:3) Abraham rose up to God’s calling. Rise up and not delay!

Prayer for today: Ask God for the grace to rise to His promise for your life.

BE BOASTFUL OF GOD

FAITH CAPSULE: Boasting God all day long will boost up one where others are grounded.

Daniel 3

It is how you trust in God that will determine how you remember to call on Him. The Bible stated in Psalm 20:7, “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.” The God you remember is the one you boast about. We cannot boast enough of His awesomeness. His goodness and mercy is exceedingly beyond man’s imagination.
What or who is it that you know for sure is worth of all day boasting? The Psalmist testifies, “In God we boast all day long…” (Psalm 44:8) God is the One and only almighty God, He is the great I AM, He is worth of all day boasting. In boasting we give our jealous God His due attention. Boasting in God is announcing that with God all things are possible. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego demonstrated what it means to boast in God. They were set to be sentenced into a fiery burning furnace because they took their stand and not bow for a golden image. Boasting could be by looking in the face of life terminating challenge to claim the salvation of God. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego responded to Nebuchadnezzar by boasting of their God stating, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.  If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.” (Daniel 3:16-18)

Boasting God all day long will boost up one where others are grounded. Once, the armies of the children Israel and their God were being verbally abused by Goliath. The children of Israel were emotionally and physical grounded in the face of their enemy. In this battle, Goliath repeatedly demoralized the armies of the children of Israel by the word of his mouth. When David got to the battle ground, he responded to Goliath by boasting in God, “…You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.  This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you…” (1 Samuel 17:45-46) Know your God, boast in Him all day long and He will boost you over your Goliath.

Prayer for today: Ask God for the boldness to be constantly boastful of His holy name at all times.
