{"id":10997,"date":"2023-11-18T02:02:00","date_gmt":"2023-11-18T02:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/faithprescription.com\/?p=10997"},"modified":"2023-11-17T21:31:59","modified_gmt":"2023-11-17T21:31:59","slug":"covetousness-sin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/faithprescription.com\/?p=10997","title":{"rendered":"COVETOUSNESS SIN"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>FAITH CAPSULE:<\/strong>\u00a0Are you experiencing a challenge overwhelming you?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Joshua 7<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One not contented in life shall become envious, greedy, and jealous of the character of one that covets.\u00a0<br \/>Greediness is rooted in a lack of contentment.\u00a0<br \/>One who is greedy is not generous. Covetousness is a command with no need for interpretation.\u00a0<br \/><em><strong>Exodus 20:17<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0states in the Ten Commandments:\u00a0<em><strong>\u201cYou shall not covet your neighbor\u2019s house; you shall not covet your neighbor\u2019s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor\u2019s.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><br \/>With the victory of the representative of the wall of Jericho in your life, you will expect victory to be your identity.\u00a0<br \/>However, when you fail to identify with the commandment of God, you will lose your identity as a winner.\u00a0<br \/>On the way to the promise of God, challenge is a frequent engagement, but full compliance with the word of God is the only way of getting to the promise of God.\u00a0<br \/>After bringing down the wall of Jericho, the children of Israel set for war against the people of Ai.\u00a0<br \/>Being a winner, they assumed victory because the people of Ai were few, but they fell and could not stand before their enemies.<br \/>As a result of the loss of Israelites to Ai, Joshua went before God\u00a0<em><strong>\u201cAnd Joshua said, \u201cAlas, Lord God, why have You brought this people over the Jordan at all\u2014to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? Oh, that we had been content, and dwelt on the other side of the Jordan!\u201d (Joshua 7:10)\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><br \/>He considered their past as better than their present. (Oh that we had been content, and dwelt on the other side of the Jordan\u00a0<em><strong>Joshua 7:7<\/strong><\/em>)\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>Are you experiencing a situation where it feels that your past is better than your present?\u00a0<br \/>It could be that God has departed you just like He departed the Israelites as a result of Achan\u2019s covetousness.\u00a0<br \/>Joshua pleaded before God, and God told him about the covetous sin of Achan.<br \/>God called covetousness sin.\u00a0<br \/>Covetousness is transgressing the command of God, and He also called it deception.\u00a0<em><strong>(Joshua 7:10-11)\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><br \/>Covetousness brought them down, and they could not stand before their enemies but turned their backs on their enemies.\u00a0<br \/>Are you turning your back on your enemies?\u00a0<br \/>Is it that the challenge you need to overcome is now overwhelming you? God does not waste His word, and the Bible testifies that He magnified His word above all His name.\u00a0<em><strong>(Psalm 138:2)<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<br \/>Why not consciously engage His word?\u00a0<br \/>The word obeyed for past victory will not complement your present battle.\u00a0<br \/>Every battle demands consistency with obedience to the word of God.\u00a0<br \/>For the Israelites, past victory could not complement future victory because of the sin of covetousness.\u00a0<br \/>The Israelites violated God and could not stand a lesser opposition in their direction.\u00a0<br \/>The lesser opposition struck and chased the Israelites as the hearts of the people melted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prayer for today:<\/strong>&nbsp;<em>Ask God for the grace not to operate covetousness in every walk of your life.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FAITH CAPSULE:\u00a0Are you experiencing a challenge overwhelming you?\u00a0 Joshua 7&nbsp; One not contented in life shall become envious, greedy, and jealous of the character of one that covets.\u00a0Greediness is rooted in a lack of contentment.\u00a0One who is greedy is not generous.
