{"id":8142,"date":"2019-06-21T16:52:48","date_gmt":"2019-06-21T16:52:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/faithprescription.com\/?p=8142"},"modified":"2019-06-21T16:52:48","modified_gmt":"2019-06-21T16:52:48","slug":"seeking-for-want-will-distract","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/faithprescription.com\/?p=8142","title":{"rendered":"SEEKING FOR WANT WILL DISTRACT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>FAITH CAPSULE:<\/strong> Greediness will drive wanting to distract one for destruction.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>2 Kings 5<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Another way to avoid distraction is to remain focus on the word of God.<br \/>\nThe promise of God states, <strong><em>&#8220;&#8230;God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.\u201d (Philippians 4:19)<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong>Having known that one&#8217;s need is in place according to God&#8217;s promise, seeking after wants can open one for distraction.<br \/>\nWith seeking the word of God, satisfaction will become established in one&#8217;s life to deny distraction.<br \/>\nGehazi was the servant of Elisha with no reason for need when he went for WANTS, against Elisha&#8217;s direction against his wants. It happened that when Naaman a leper was healed as directed by Elisha, he returned to Elisha with a gift.<br \/>\nNaaman&#8217;s gift was not a need for Elisha when he refused and not to accept Naaman&#8217;s gift. However, the greed of Gehazi (Elisha&#8217;s servant) prompted his want to go after Naaman for the gift against Elisha&#8217;s refusal.<br \/>\n<strong><em>2 Kings 5:20-23<\/em><\/strong> records Gehazi&#8217;s desire for wants, <strong><em>&#8220;But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, \u201cLook, my master has spared Naaman this Syrian, while not receiving from his hands what he brought; but as the Lord lives, I will run after him and take something from him.\u201d So Gehazi pursued Naaman. When Naaman saw him running after him, he got down from the chariot to meet him, and said, \u201cIs all well?\u201d And he said, \u201cAll is well. My master has sent me, saying, \u2018Indeed, just now two young men of the sons of the prophets have come to me from the mountains of Ephraim. Please give them a talent of silver and two changes of garments.\u2019 So Naaman said, \u201cPlease, take two talents.\u201d And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and handed them to two of his servants; and they carried them on ahead of him.&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong>The greediness of Gehazi drove him to go for WANT, ignoring his having enough need. After Gehazi&#8217;s return from claiming Naaman&#8217;s gift despite Elisha&#8217;s decision not to accept the gift, Elisha rebuked and cursed Gehazi as stated: <strong><em>&#8220;Therefore the leprosy of Naaman shall cling to you and your descendants forever.\u201d And he went out from his presence leprous, as white as snow.&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong>Elisha&#8217;s curse upon Gehazi was prompted by Gehazi&#8217;s going after want when his greedy for his want was not needed.<br \/>\nThe want for Gehazi opened him for the distraction to derail him from arriving at God&#8217;s divine assignment over his life.<br \/>\nWith no doubt, the will of God for man does not include distraction.<br \/>\nDistraction is rooted in the choice of one that is ignorant of God&#8217;s will for all man.<br \/>\nBy watching and praying to God continually against distraction, one will arrive at God&#8217;s divine assignment for one&#8217;s life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prayer for today:<\/strong> <em>Ask God for His hand to keep you away from distraction.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FAITH CAPSULE: Greediness will drive wanting to distract one for destruction. 2 Kings 5 Another way to avoid distraction is to remain focus on the word of God.
