FAITH CAPSULE: The journey of life demands understanding of God.

Psalm 106

Understanding will prompt one to know God.
To lack understanding is to lack knowledge.
lllHosea 4:6 admonishes all,“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.”
It is important to have understanding and knowledge, not to live a life of waste.
Understanding makes giving regard to God a way of life.
When there is no understanding to give regard to God, such people take a position with painful consequences.
Psalm 28:5 records, “Because they do not regard the works of the Lord, nor the operation of His hands, He shall destroy them and not build them up.”
Without understanding, one does not remember God for His doings.
One with no understanding is a candidate for failure.
One who does not remember God is bound to become rebellious to the word of God.
Psalm 106:7 records the testimony of the lack of understanding of the wonders of God by the Israelites: “Our fathers in Egypt did not understand Your wonders; they did not remember the multitude of your mercies but rebelled by the sea-the Red Sea.”  
Do you lack understanding of God’s wonders?
The Israelites demonstrated a lack of understanding with an act of rebellion.
They complained repeatedly before God.
Numbers 14:1-4 records the complaint of the Israelites,“… And all the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron, and the whole congregation said to them, “If only we had died in the land of Egypt! Or if only we had died in this wilderness! Why has the LORD brought us to this land to fall by the sword, that our wives and children should become victims? Would it not be better for us to return to Egypt…?”
Every complaint before God is a sin that will provoke consequences.
God responds to the complaint of the Israelites in Numbers 14:28-29, “Say to them, ‘As I live,’ says the LORD, ‘just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will do to you: The carcasses of you who have complained against Me shall fall in this wilderness…”  
Understanding is not of the mouth but of the heart. 
Understanding the wonders of God will always cause one to remember and not to become rebellious. 
Proverbs 16:22 testifies that “Understanding is a wellspring of life to him who has it…”  
Wellspring is a source of abundant supply.
With understanding, one is bound to live life with an abundance of life that Jesus brought for all. Jesus declares, “…I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10) 
Have a desire for God’s understanding.
The Israelites lacked understanding of God and became lost in the wilderness.
Psalm 106:13-14 refers to the Israelites,“They soon forgot His works; they did not wait for His counsel, but lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tested God in the desert.”
To forget the works of God is a lack of understanding of God.

Prayer for today: Ask that you will not live a wasted life.
