FAITH CAPSULE: God is not a careless talker.
Numbers 32
Giving regard to God is the way to seek God as a way of life.
Why not give life to the glory, honour, and power to God?
The will of God is to live life for Him.
The word of God is not meant to return void, but man void His word not live by His word.
For example, when God gives a promise, He adds a condition.
Without engaging, the condition will deny the promise.
In the promise of God, a condition to claim has to be met.
God told the children of Israel to take them to the Promised Land.
It was a promise because what God says is a done deal.
The condition for the Israelites to claim the promise is to live for God in the journey to the Promised Land.
The Children of the Israelites failed to commit to the word of God.
Quoting the word of God without living shall lead to failure.
Commitment to the word of God is not in memorizing the word of God, but to meditate day and night and be able to do according to the word of God.
In the journey of life, not being committed will not claim the promise.
Claiming to be a believer without commitment to the word of God is having a religion with no relationship with God.
The children of Gad and Reuben disobeyed God to settle outside of the word of God for their own convenience. Numbers 32:1-7 documents the disobedient of the children of Gad and the children of Reuben, “Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of livestock; and when they saw the land of Jazer and the land of Gilead, that indeed the region was a place for livestock, the children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spoke to Moses, to Eleazar the priest, and to the leaders of the congregation, saying, “Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Shebam, Nebo, and Beon, the country which the LORD defeated before the congregation of Israel, is a land for livestock, and your servants have livestock.” Therefore, they said, “If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants as a possession. Do not take us over the Jordan.” And Moses said to the children of Gad and to the children of Reuben: “Shall your brethren go to war while you sit here? Now, why will you discourage the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which the LORD has given them?”
God promised the land that flows with milk and honey, but the children of Gad and the children of Reuben could not commit to the promise of God, but set out for livestock (milk provision).
In the journey of life, be committed to God to avoid destruction.
Prayer for today: Ask to be enabled to live by the word of God.
